FAQs: Rashguard Shirts
All i play. Rashguard Shirts offer UPF 50+ protection to help protect baby from the sun’s harmful rays. Rashguard Shirts are made from stretchy, quick-dry material and flatlock seams for comfort and freedom of movement while playing in or out of the water. Rashguard shirts also help keep baby warm in cooler water and during first swim lessons.
Rashguard Shirts are made without azo dyes & formaldehyde, for baby’s health & safety.
Your baby has very delicate and sensitive skin, with less protective melanin than adults. Baby’s skin is also thinner, and easily absorbs chemicals and UV rays. Wearing sun protection clothing helps minimize the need for sunscreen (only need to apply to exposed areas not covered by UPF 50+ sun protection clothing) and offers all-day protection from sun’s harmful rays. i play.® Rashguard Shirts offer UPF 50+ protection, blocking 98% of UVA & UVB rays.
i play.® Sun Wear is treated using the Rayosan™ process. This process coats fabric in an invisible, chemical layer, thereby increasing the material’s effectiveness at blocking UV rays.
Rashguard Shirts are made from nylon and elastane.
Yes, Sparky the Firefly is part of the i play® logo, and is featured on all current Rashguard Shirts. In previous years, different items such as seashells appeared on the Rashguard Shirts, but these have since been discontinued and Sparky, the Firefly is the only character available.
Rashguard Shirts provide UPF 50+ sun protection, but only provides protection for skin that is covered. For babies under 6 months, avoid all sunscreens and keep them in a shaded area to avoid UV rays. For older children, mineral sunscreens, such as zinc oxide that physically block UV rays from the skin’s surface and are less likely to be absorbed into the skin, are recommended on any uncovered skin.
We are always working to improve the quality and functionality of our products. i play.® Rashguard Shirt specifications were designed to fit the ASTM 50 percentile measurements for each age or size. Over the past few years, the specifications have been shortened (and then slightly lengthened) to be a better fit for more babies.
Due to stock from previous still being available on the market, we cannot guarantee which year the product you may purchase from our retailers was made. If you have specific questions regarding the specifications of a Rashguard Shirt, please contact our customer care team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rashguard Shirts & Breathable Sun Protection Shirts are both great for all-day, UPF 50+ sun protection, but Rashguard Shirts are better suited for swimming or being submerged in water, and Breathable Sun Protection Shirts are perfect as a coverup after swimming or for outdoor active play.
Rashguard Shirts are made from nylon & elastane, which is stretchy (4-way stretch), quick-drying, and perfect for water play and swimming. Breathable Sun Protection Shirts are made from breathable, quick-drying wicking polyester with a 2-way stretch, that helps pull moisture away from baby’s skin to keep cool during active play. While they are quick-drying when wet, they are ideal for outdoor play or as a coverup after swimming.
