A Family Tradition

Becky Cannon's curiosity about how children can reach their full potential inspired her to start her company, i play., Inc. After earning a degree in child development, she moved to Japan to study and teach at a unique kindergarden that was based on holistic philosophy and natural foods. While living in Japan, Becky had her first daughter, Emi. There, she discovered unique, quality baby products with special functions, made from natural materials and cute designs.

When Becky moved back to the U.S. and had her second daughter, Mari, these features became the basis for the products at i play., Inc. What started as one mail-order item has grown into an offering of a Family of Brands and hundreds of natural baby products.Today, Becky, Emi, and Mari are the mother-daughter owners of i play., Inc. Many years of researching, developing and manufacturing healthy and natural baby products has contributed to the whole development of babies for generations.

A Letter From Our Founder, Becky Cannon:

More than 40 years ago, I was introduced to a holistic way of understanding the world that has profoundly influenced how I live, how I eat, and how I have raised my children. Back then, words like organic, holistic, locally grown, and eco-friendly were neither mainstream nor commonplace. However, my shift in perception opened my mind toward practicing a harmonious, healthy, and environmentally responsible lifestyle. Becky, Emi, and Naomi

My background is in Child Development so I instinctively integrated these principles of nature with a comprehensive and nurturing view of parenting when my daughters, Emi and Mari were born. In 1982 I founded my company, i play., Inc. in my home, and it grew from there. Today, our Family of Brands are available in 68 countries worldwide, with our corporate headquarters in Asheville, NC.

Now that I am a grandmother, I have had an opportunity, together with my daughters as parents, to refresh our principles of natural parenting to meet the modern world. Naomi, three months old (Emi's daughter), and Zo, four years old (Mari's son) bring recent experiences along with joy to our mission of offering healthy and practical products for the well-being of babies.
